Hey guys, so I woke up this morning, almost noon after a loong nite, and saw on my Yahoo! News that these teenage boppers are bringing in billions in the box office. Some of the stars included in the list are Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliff, Vanessa HuXXXens, Dakota Fanning and herlittle sister, the Will Smith kid, David Cross and many others. The Jonas Brothers of course topped the list with over 1.5B I mean, think about it, that is crazy money! Following very closely is Emma with over 1.2B!! It looks like the Happy Potter franchise has become one of the most successful, and with the new installment coming this summer, they will keep on adding even more money. The funny thing is that they all started when they were around 10 years old, and slowly have become these teenage icons around the world. I remember seeing the releases of the book with shots around the world having crazy lines outside libraries and bookstores. Other teenage flicks will start this year, and many of them are looking to secure some of these stars’ careers (not that many of them need it!) In the US, the Jonas Brothers, High School Musical and Miley have been the phenomenon. Miley alone has all these stuff available from perfumes and clothing lines, to movies and CDs. I don’t remember back in the 80s or 90s having such teenage stars kicking it to the level these people are. Be on the lookout for the new teenage stars such as The Reader’s David Cross, and of course Dakota’s mini-me, Ellen Fanning ( I swear she is a clone)

Hey everybody, so I assume a lot of you watched the Oscars on Sunday night. I of course did, and must say I was pleased to see the winners…for starters, my fav of the night won for Best Supporting Actress, yes, I am referring to Penelope Cruz for her role in Vicky Cristina Barcelona. I mean, she really didn’t have anyone else close to her, and that performance was well worth the award. The second speech of the night really moved me. It came from the writer of the script for Milk. That guy looked sooo young and he is soo talented! I hope to see more of his work soon. Heath Ledger of course was not a surprise, and then came the Best Actress award. Most people knew who the winner was going to be on this one, but you know, I had a little but of doubt. The academy really likes Meryl Streep, and a lot was said about Anne Hathaway’s performance. Regardless, the Academy got it right and selected Kate Winslet for the Reader. She was amazing on this! This award was well overdue, and it came at a perfect time when she delivered not one, but two of the best performances of the year. Then came Best Actor, and this one really stressed me out. You have in one hand the great Sean Penn who just gets nominated every other year, and on the other the unbelievable return of Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler. I have to say, both are great performances, but deep deep inside I wanted Mickey to win. But as I predicted, the Academy went ahead and choose otherwise. Then movie of the night came along, and I knew who they were going to choose. I wish I was there to change it since I was soo into The Reader or Benjamin Button. Slumdog Millionaire is without question a great movie, but I really wanted either of the previous two to win. As for the actual show, I loved it! I think this was a very fresh, new concept they came up with, and the whole thing with having 5 previous winners in the acting categories just couldn’t be better thought. Seeing Tilda Swinton, Sophia Loren, Shirley McClain, Nicole, Marion Cotillard I mean that was just amazing. Hugh Jackman impressed me, the guy can sing, dance and charm for sure! Overall a very great Oscar season full of life and excellent people in it. Hope you guys enjoyed it as well…

Hey guys, as you all probably know, this Sunday are the glamorous Oscars. I have to admit, I have been a huge fan of these awards for a very long time. This year I feel there are so many talented performers who got nominated and not. Sally Hawkins’ character in Happy-Go-Lucky is definitely one that deserved to be nominated for Best Actress. I just loved the movie, and the character is pure energy and charisma. Keira Knightley I feel got left out of the race as well playing Georgina of Devonshire in The Duchess. The movie as a whole was spectacular; just can’t understand how it did not score some nominations…On the other hand I am happy to see Kate Winslet nominated for The Reader. I just recently saw the movie and thought was fantastic. It is a very sad story, but the cinematography, characters, story do bring a new way of seeing the other side of the WWII era. The Reader without a doubt is my choice for best movie of the year. Revolutionary Road is my other choice, but I guess I won’t be hoping for that since it got left out. The Wrestler, another great great movie did not score Best Picture of the Year, but I would have loved to see it up there. Mickey Rourke is just delightful playing his character. So believable and powerful. Couldn’t believe the reviews when I read about it, but after seeing the movie I couldn’t do anything but agree with every single one of them. Marisa Tomei is wonderful so is Evan Rachel Wood. So here are my picks for Sunday’s awards…for Best Picture I would love to see The Reader win. As for Best Actor, Mickey Rourke! I am sure Sean Penn will come very close on this one, and I wouldn’t mind seeing him win, since his role as Harvey Milk is awesome as well. For Best Actress, Kate Winslet please…she deserves it and it’s long overdue. Melissa Leo’s Frozen River performance is unbelievable by the way, so she is my second choice on this. Heath Ledger will win, so no arguing here…as for Best Supporting Actress, my absolute fav is Spaniard beauty Penelope Cruz. She is crazy and so out there in Vicky Cristina Barcelona; no real competition here. However, Viola Davis has been getting a lot of press for her role, but in my opinion doesn’t come close to Penelope’s. So here you have it, my little piece of Oscar’s fascination!

Comedic actress Whoppi Goldberg has taken a public stance on her opinion about social networking sites like Facebook because she’s tired of people putting up fake profiles and using her image online.

The Academy Award winner, 53, refuses to create an online profile because she hates that people are using these profile sites to act like they are her, by emailing people and posting comments on the websites.

“There’s a Facebook page of mine, I never put it up. I don’t like these social sites for this reason, because you don’t know what they’re going to do with it (your information) and I have no recourse to get it taken down. I have no idea who put it up (but) there (are) pictures of me on there.

“The Facebook people said they would never use your image in a way you didn’t want to because they said, ‘The trust you place in us as a safe place to share information is what makes Facebook work’. Well, if that is the case then just get rid of the law if you really feel that way, then toss it out.”

I agree with Whoopi, but I think that there is little that Facebook or any website can do to protect people like her because its just so easy to create these profiles and pretend to be whoever you want. Hopefully Facebook will come out with something that can satisfy Whoopi to open up her own profile account.

America’s favorite day-time talk show host, Jerry Springer is taking a break from his show and quit his job as host of the hit U.S. TV show, America’s Got Talent and heading the to UK. Yes, that’s the United Kingdom, where he will be starring in London’s West End production of Chicago, playing lawyer, Billy Flynn. This will be a limited engagement of six weeks for the TV host, but Springer says that he welcomes the challenge. He has started taking singing lessons to prepare for his stage debut in June.

“You don’t need a Pavarotti for that role. I think I can carry a tune. I’m going to try to respect the traditions of the theatre and of the show. I’m going to work hard at it, I’m going to really rehearse and give it my best.”

This should be interesting to see Jerry Springer singing and dancing on the London West End stage, we will wait and see what the critics say about his performance.
