A little more on Penelope Cruz…

So I have decided to tell you guys a little bit more about one of my favorite actresses today. Penelope Cruz is not only in my opinion one of the best Hollywood has these days, but the European cinema as well. She started her career in her native Madrid where she studied drama and dance. In her early works she manages to impress directors, the media and critics. Some of her early works such as Jamon, Jamon, Belle Epoque and la Celestina were early indicators that she was headed for a very successful, prospering career. Then came the moment that almost every actress dreams of: to become an Almodovar girl. When Almodovar casted her, he said he couldn’t have made a better choice; the rest is history. She started in some of his most brilliant work, including All About My Mother, a highly praised piece of work. Subsequently, she made the big jump and decided to head for Hollywood, where Vanilla Sky was her letter of presentation starting next to Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. Many more followed and in a few years then she became for many an exotic icon in the Hollywood scene. One of her latest movies, Volver, even got her an Oscar nomination as Best Actress for her role as Raimunda. For those who haven’t seen, it’s a must see! Finally this year, one of her biggest dreams came true when she accepted her award for Best Supporting Actress in Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Lined up she has a few movies including a musical, Nine, an animation film, G-Force and another promising Almodovar film, Broken Hugs…I am sure we will be hearing about Penelope for many years to come
